Ms. Caruso and her husband, Pedro Henriques da Silva, have formed the highly original Duo Caruso-da Silva in which she plays piano and harpsichord, and he sitar, mandolin, Portuguese guitar and classical guitar. They are exploring and creating new sounds by mixing Western and non-Western music in styles that range from Renaissance to Contemporary, North Indian to Flamenco and Tango to Bossa Nova. Most of the music they perform is improvisational, blending different cultures and traditions in a seamless and cohesive whole. Since 2003, they have performed at Steinway Hall in New York City, Staten Island and Swan Lake (New York), Wolcott (Colorado), Mola di Bari, Monopoli, Perugia, Padova and Rome (Italy), Lisbon and Almada (Portugal), Madrid (Spain), at the Silvestre Revueltas Auditorium in Mexico City, in Mendoza and Córdoba (Argentina) and at the Marble Hall at the Hungarian Radio, Budapest (Hungary). They will be playing at the Layla Lavan Festival (White Night Festival) in Israel in June 2009.
